Frequently Asked Questions

At Van Biljon Nursing, we believe in knowing that elders are well looked after.

What happens if frailcare is necessary but there is no availability?

We offer 24-hour care for 3 days in the unit and after the 3 days it will be for the resident’s account. 1st available bed in frail care will then be reserved for the resident.

If it becomes necessary, can you monitor food and water intake (maintaining homeostasis)?

Yes, when there is a full-time carer with the resident. With the assistant living package we can monitor it with rounds but not in between.

Can any of the healthcare services you provide be claimed back from medical aid?

All depending on your medical aid and medical aid plan.

What assistance do you provide in respect of making appointments with Dr Marelize Vlok (or if she is unavailable, any other GP) and what would it cost?

Senior in charge at Frail Care to be contacted - she will then make the appointment. Costs according to private doctors prices.

Where can I obtain the Dr that is on call at the specific Village's rates (to compare to medical aid tariffs)?

Rates as per private doctor rates

Do you provide any assistance in respect of medical aid claims?

Yes, if pre-auth is available and medical aid pays for service rendered by Van Biljon Nursing.

Is there any particular pharmacy you use/ prefer?

You are welcome to use any Pharmacy but we do suggest Spar Pharmacy Group as they have the latest Blister packaging on the market which make it very save and hygienic for the client and it is an cheaper option as well - saving the client money.

Is this included free/ as part of levy or only according to assisted living packages?

Medication 1, 2 3 times daily according to prescription.
